Beauty Space is a booking app for makeup artists and the women who book them. This policy says what we keep about you, why, who can see it, how long we keep it and how to remove it — only what the app actually does.
Who we are
Beauty Space is run from Cairo, Egypt. We decide how the personal data described here is used, and we are who to write to about it: Mohamed_said@beautyspace.io.
What we keep
For everyone:
- Your phone number and the name you give us. You sign in with a code we send on WhatsApp; there is no password.
- If you add them: a photo, an email address, your gender, your date of birth and your city.
- For notifications: a push token for your phone, its type and the app version.
- Your bookings: the artist, the service, the date, the address you typed and the pin you placed, how many people, what you wrote to the artist, and what happened to the booking.
- The messages you send in a booking’s chat, and the reviews you write.
- Which pages and artists were opened, so we can tell what works. These records never hold your messages, address, phone number or location.
For makeup artists, as well:
- Your public profile: name, photos and videos, bio, Instagram handle, services and prices, studio, the areas you travel to and your calendar.
- Your InstaPay handle, if you choose to show it to clients.
- Your costs and receipt photos, your private notes on clients, and the assistants you invite.
- If you sent an identity document to the earlier version of the app: its photos, in private storage, and the last four digits of its number. That app’s own copy is in the archive described under “Deleting your account”.
Why we use it
- To run your bookings: to show your request to the artist, to tell each of you what the other did, and to stop two bookings taking the same time.
- To sign you in, and to keep accounts safe — including limiting how often a code can be asked for.
- To send notifications about your bookings and messages. You can turn them off in your phone’s settings.
- To answer you when you write to us, and to look into a problem with a booking.
- To understand which parts of Beauty Space work.
We do not sell your data. We show no adverts, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Who sees what
- Anyone can see an artist’s public profile and the reviews on it. A review shows the client’s first name only.
- When you send a request, the artist sees your name, your photo, the address you typed, your note and the people in your party. She sees your phone number and the exact pin only once she confirms. After a confirmed booking your number stays in her list of clients, so she can reach you again.
- Once a booking is confirmed, you see the artist’s phone number and, for a booking at her studio, its street and door.
- An artist may let an assistant help with her diary. The assistant sees your name and the booking’s time and area. She sees your phone number, your address or any amounts only if the artist turns that on for her.
- A small Beauty Space team can open an account, a booking and its chat to answer a support request or to deal with a report. Every time an identity document is opened, it is logged.
- The companies that run parts of Beauty Space for us, listed next, use your data only for that.
Advertising on Facebook and Instagram
On the website it is on unless you turn it off: “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page switches it off, and from then on nothing more is shared from that browser. The apps ask first — the iPhone app with Apple’s tracking prompt, the Android app with its own question — and you can change your answer under Settings.
- While it is on, we tell Meta (Facebook and Instagram) when you open an artist, start or request a booking, or create an account, and when an artist confirms your booking, with its price. Meta matches this to a Meta account, if you have one, using your phone number and account number in a scrambled (hashed) form, your device and browser, and Meta’s own cookie on the website.
- We use it to show our ads to people likely to book, and to see which ads work. Meta also uses it under its own data policy.
- Turned off — or answered no in an app — nothing more is shared. Nothing is ever shared about a booking made from an artist’s own link.
- We never share your messages, your address, your photos, or anything about an artist’s clients.
Your location
Beauty Space reads your phone’s location only when you tap “Use my location” while choosing where a booking happens, and then only once, to move the pin. Nothing leaves your phone until you save the address. We never read your location in the background.
How long we keep it
- Your account, for as long as you keep it.
- Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes. Signing in lasts up to 30 days on a device.
- Notifications are deleted after 90 days.
- Bookings, payments, reviews and messages are kept after a booking ends: they are the other person’s history as well as yours, and the artist’s business records. If you delete your account, they stay without your name.
- Database backups are kept for up to 7 days, and are never used to bring back an account that was deleted.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app, under Settings — for an artist, on her profile — with “Delete my account”. If you cannot open the app, our account deletion page explains how to ask us by email.
Deleting erases your name, phone number, email, gender, date of birth, photo, devices and saved artists. For an artist it also removes her profile, photos, costs, notes on clients and InstaPay handle, and her link stops working. Bookings, reviews and messages stay with the other person, without your name.
An account cannot be deleted while a booking is still ahead. Cancel it first, so nobody is left waiting.
If you used the earlier Beauty Space app, a read-only copy of that app’s data is kept in a locked archive. Write to us and we will delete your part of it.
Your rights
You can see and correct most of what we keep in the app itself. You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to stop using it for a purpose, or to delete it, by writing to Mohamed_said@beautyspace.io. We answer within 30 days. If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Age
Beauty Space is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it, and we do not knowingly keep data about anyone younger. If you believe a child has an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change affects what we keep or who sees it, we will tell you in the app before it applies.
